Dar El Menia’s Package Desert Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Dar El Menia – Erfoud
You will be met at Dar El Menia by an English/French speaking driver and depart Dar El Menia for Erfoud. Experience spectacular views of cedar forests, visit the Barbary Apes at Ifrane and tour through the beautiful and scenic Midelt on route to the Sahara. Travel through the Ziz valley and view the Efous oasis which offers amazing photographic opportunities. Arrive late in the afternoon for your night in Efroud on the threshold of the Sahara. A relaxing dinner will be organised for you this evening at your auberge
Day 2. Erg Chebbi – Sahara Desert
Erd Chebbi is a large sand sea which effectively marks the start of the real Sahara Desert. Some of the sand dunes in this area rise to over 245 meters. The colours of the rising and setting sun over these dunes make for a truly magical experience. Enjoy your morning at leisure exploring the town of Erfoud before departing in a 4×4 vehicle tour to explore the regions souks, fossil digs and the highest sand dunes in North Africa. Experience an exhibition of traditional Gnaoua music. Later we head into the desert by camel or 4×4 for a night under the stars, sleeping in traditional Berber nomadic tents.
Day 3. Erfoud – Dar El Menia
Rise early in the morning to see the amazing desert sunrise over the dunes. You are driven back to your auberge in Erfound to refresh and take breakfast before departing back to Dar El Menia. This is an extensive days drive but the scenary across the Atlas Mountains and South of Morocco is truly mesmerising and dramatic.
The Sahara Desert is one of the largest attractions in Morocco and most people think that the only way to access this alluring area is from Marrakech…Not True! Fez, in fact, is a shorter distance to the Sahara desert than Marrakech and the drive along the way is absolutely stunning, taking you from the Middle Atlas mountains, to the Ziz Gorges, the Efous Oasis and finally to the beautiful golden dunes.
Dar El Menia can help you organise your excursion to the desert, whether it’s three nights or more…and then bring you back to Fez and Dar El Menia or take you onwards to Marrakech.
Sahara Desert excursions include your own personal vehicle and driver, your overnight camel excursion (or 4 x4) all accommodation, breakfast, dinners and entrance fees.
