Fez-Boulamane, Fez

Musicians and music lovers from all over the world will flock to the city of Fez for the annual Jazz in Fez, taking place on 13-15 November 2009. This three day celebration proves that the love of music transcends all barriers.

The magnifent ancient riads and palaces in the medina of this capitivating city host the festival, giving visitors the opportunity, not only to enjoy great music, but to enjoy the city’s architectural heritage and unique atmosphere.

In the city every year a week-long festival is held of sacred musical traditions from different parts of the world. Performers like Ravi Shankar, Youssou N’Dour and Salif Keita are juxtaposed with less known musical genres such as Japanese Gagaku, Indonesian Gamelan and folk music from Central Asia. There are several places throughout the city where events are held and Dar El Menia provides a perfect base to experience the festival being a mere fifteen minute walk from the main stage pictured below.
